Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about partnerships, governance, and impact measurement.

U.S. Tax-Deductible Route (501c3)

Is my contribution tax-deductible?
Yes, if you're a U.S. taxpayer. Contributions are made to Fractured Atlas, an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) organization. You receive an official tax receipt. However, deductibility depends on your individual tax situation. Consult your tax advisor.
Who receives my contribution?
Fractured Atlas (the fiscal sponsor) receives and controls all funds. Funds are designated for Exodus & Resilience programs but Fractured Atlas exercises discretion over disbursements.
Can I restrict my gift to a specific program?
You can designate funds for a program area (e.g., "education programs"), but final approval rests with the fiscal sponsor. You cannot direct funds to specific individuals.
How are funds disbursed?
Fractured Atlas reviews and approves all program budgets and expenses. Disbursements are made based on documented program needs with proper invoices and receipts.
Can my company match my donation?
Yes, many employers match donations to 501(c)(3) organizations. Check with your HR/CSR department.
What about quid pro quo benefits?
IRS regulations limit benefits you can receive in exchange for tax-deductible contributions. Significant benefits (event tickets, merchandise) may reduce deductibility. We disclose any benefits on your receipt.

Global Corporate Partnerships (CSR/Sponsorship)

How is CSR/sponsorship different from a donation?
CSR/sponsorship typically involves a business relationship with deliverables (branding, visibility, employee engagement). It's generally treated as a business expense, not a charitable contribution. Tax treatment varies by jurisdiction—consult your tax advisor.
What deliverables can we receive?
Options include logo placement, naming rights, VIP events, co-branded materials, media mentions, social media recognition, employee engagement opportunities, and impact reporting. All subject to mutual agreement.
How do we structure the agreement?
We execute a sponsorship/partnership agreement outlining investment amount, program scope, timeline, deliverables, reporting milestones, and brand usage terms.
What if we don't want public visibility?
That's fine. We offer confidential partnerships with full impact reporting but no public recognition.
How long does it take to activate a partnership?
Typically 4-8 weeks from initial conversation to executed agreement, depending on internal approval processes.

Governance & Oversight

Who controls funds in the U.S. route?
Fractured Atlas (the fiscal sponsor) maintains control and discretion over all funds. This is required for 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsorship.
How are program budgets approved?
All program budgets are submitted to Fractured Atlas for review and approval. Budgets must align with our charitable mission and comply with IRS regulations.
What safeguards prevent conflicts of interest?
Team members disclose any potential conflicts, related-party transactions require disclosure and review, major decisions involve multiple reviewers, and independent audit capability is available.
Can I see your financial statements?
Fractured Atlas (our fiscal sponsor) files public Form 990. Program-specific financials are shared with partners in annual impact reports.

Reporting & Evidence

What's included in the annual impact report?
Budget vs actuals reconciliation, activity documentation, outcome evidence (surveys, testimonials), visual documentation, SDG mapping & KPI dashboard, narrative impact analysis, and recommendations for future investment.
Can I see a sample report?
Yes, we can provide a redacted sample report upon request (with partner confidentiality protected).
How do you protect participant privacy?
Written consent is required for all photo/video use, we collect minimal demographic data, use secure encrypted data storage, follow GDPR-aware practices for EU participants, and participants have the right to withdraw consent at any time.
What if outcomes don't meet expectations?
We report honestly on both successes and challenges. If outcomes fall short, we analyze why and recommend adjustments for future programming.
How often do we receive updates?
U.S. individual contributors: Annual report. Corporate sponsors: Quarterly updates + annual report. Foundation grantees: Milestone reports per agreement. Major donors ($50K+): Quarterly calls + customized reporting.

Brand & Communications

Can we use your logo and content?
Logo usage requires mutual agreement and brand guidelines compliance. We provide approved assets and usage terms in partnership agreements.
Can we announce our partnership publicly?
Yes, if mutually agreed. We review all public communications before release to ensure accuracy and brand safety.
What if we prefer confidentiality?
Absolutely fine. We offer confidential partnerships with no public recognition, though we may mention "anonymous corporate partner" in aggregate reporting.

Operations

What's the typical timeline for a program cycle?
Planning & partnership: 2-3 months. Program implementation: 3-12 months (varies by program type). Reporting & documentation: 1-2 months post-completion.
What cities/countries do you work in?
Currently focused on U.S. cities with plans for international expansion. Specific locations determined by partnership opportunities and community need.
How do you select local partners?
Based on community credibility and access, institutional capacity, alignment with mission and values, track record and references, and commitment to consent-based practices.
